Dholera smart city plan has been drafted by industry experts keeping in mind international standards and state of art infrastructure possibilities.
The apex authority of the project, Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB) is a statutory organization headed by the Chief Minister of Gujarat and the 'Most Admired State Level PPP agency in India' as per KPMG (2008). It shall also participate actively in private sector participation for this project and help in meeting the funding requirements of the project.
The initial funding for projects such as trunk infrastructure project, construction of Dholera international airport, ABCD building and roads and services in the city has been sanctioned by the central government. State government has also made its equity contribution to the development of Dholera SIR through sanction of state owned land for faster execution of the project.
The trunk infrastructure in the city is being developed to give a substantial base to the city through construction of basic amenities which shall be instrumental in attracting further investments in Dholera. The city is also a favorable place to invest in the real estate sector owing to low valuations of property.
Dholera is planned on 920 square kilometer area and shall cover 22 villages under it. The location is close to Dholera taluka in Ahmedabad district.
Dholera smart city plan envisions the city to be six times the size of Shanghai and become one that promotes sustainable development through smart features and amenities.
